Privacy

Plain-language privacy information.

This page describes the current Daneshkhana website, adult email-verified Learning Access, Parent Letter signup and family email contact. It is not a promise about future child accounts, payments or cloud learning profiles.

Current model: no child account, no advertising, adult email-verified access for most activities, parent/guardian-managed access for younger learners, and learning progress stored locally in the browser on the device.

What the learning activities store

Several learning activities use browser local storage to remember progress, completed rounds or activity settings on the device. That information is not designed to identify the learner and is not sent to a Daneshkhana learner account because no learner account is required in this version.

My Learning and the local Learning Space

My Learning can store a learning level, a broad subject focus, a learning goal, recent activity history, skill progress and reminder preferences in browser local storage on the device. A child name, birthdate or child email is not required. The current Learning Space is not synced to a Daneshkhana cloud learner profile and does not automatically follow the learner to another device.

The 14-day Learning Access session and the local Learning Space are separate: access may expire while locally stored learning progress remains on the device so the learner can continue later.

Family reminder

Families may optionally enable an on-site daily reminder if no learning activity has been recorded on the device by the selected reminder time. If the browser has granted notification permission, Daneshkhana may also show a browser alert when the site is opened after that time. The current version does not send background email or push reminders while Daneshkhana is closed.

What the site does not ask children for

  • Child name
  • Child email address
  • Phone number
  • Exact home address
  • Public profile

Advertising and tracking

The current public package contains no advertising scripts, ad trackers, third-party analytics scripts or social-media tracking pixels.

Hosting logs

Like most websites, the hosting provider may process standard technical request information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, request time, browser information and requested pages. Daneshkhana does not use this package to create child advertising profiles.

Parent Letter signup

Parents may choose to subscribe to the Daneshkhana Parent Letter with their own email address. Daneshkhana uses Kit to process subscriptions, confirmation and newsletter delivery. The signup asks for a parent email only; it does not ask for a child name, child email, school or date of birth. Subscribers are asked to confirm their subscription by email and can unsubscribe from future emails.

Direct parent email

If a parent chooses to email families@daneshkhana.com, the sender address and message are processed through the normal email service so Daneshkhana can read and reply to the message. Messages may remain in the mailbox until they are manually deleted. Please do not send sensitive personal information about children.

Founding Families

“Founding Families” describes early parents who help shape Daneshkhana through newsletter replies or direct feedback. It is not a child account, public community profile or WhatsApp group.

Resetting learning progress

You can reset Daneshkhana learning progress stored locally in this browser. This keeps the selected interface language but removes Daneshkhana activity progress and local round data on this device.

Learning Access

Most learning activities require an adult email address to be verified using a one-time six-digit code. The code expires after 10 minutes. While a code is pending, the server keeps a masked version of the address and a one-way hash, not the readable email address. A successful verification creates Learning Access for up to 14 days on that browser. Parents or guardians should use their own adult email for younger learners; adult learners and educators may use their own email. Daneshkhana does not create child accounts, ask for child email addresses, or automatically add the access email to the Parent Letter. After verification, the active session stores only a one-way hash of the email rather than the readable address.

Learning Access uses two first-party cookies: dk_parent_access for the server session and dk_learning_access to restore verified access on the same browser until the fixed access period expires. Anonymous visitors are not given a 14-day persistent access cookie. Short-lived anti-abuse records use keyed one-way HMAC identifiers derived from adult email addresses and IP addresses, plus an overall request counter, to limit repeated code requests. These records are used for access security, not advertising or learner profiling.

Two selected mathematics activities remain available to guests without sign-in. Cloud learner profiles, cloud progress and analytics are still not enabled.

Future changes

If Daneshkhana later adds persistent parent profiles, cloud progress, payments, personalization, analytics or additional data collection, this privacy information must be updated before those features are released. Daneshkhana does not plan to require child email accounts for the learning experience.
